Carol Frazier is a contemporary artist and composer working across painting, music, writing, film, and design. Her practice moves fluidly between mediums, guided by rhythm, structure, and atmosphere.

Artist Statement

My work begins in composition.

As a composer working across contemporary art, music, and the written word, I approach each medium as a study in rhythm, tension, and release. Improvisation is foundational — not as spontaneity, but as listening. Listening for tone, movement, light, and silence.

In painting, gesture carries the weight of sound. Layers unfold the way harmonies develop. Space is as essential as mark. Structure emerges gradually, allowing intuition and form to negotiate their balance.

Light functions as both material and metaphor. In some bodies of work it appears tonal and architectural; in others it becomes luminous and Mediterranean. These variations are not shifts in identity, but movements within the same compositional language.

Whether expressed on canvas, in sound, or through language, the work seeks resonance — a sustained alignment between structure and feeling.

Selected Exhibitions & Performances

Carol Frazier’s multidisciplinary work has been presented in solo exhibitions and concert performances across Aspen, Vail, Carmel, London, and throughout Colorado. Her one-woman art exhibition and concert at The Lincoln Center in Fort Collins exemplifies her practice of uniting visual art and live composition within a single body of work.

In addition to her studio practice, Frazier has served as Gallery Director of Meuse Gallery in Aspen and contributed to the presentation of The Banksy Exhibit: Restored and Reclaimed, reflecting her curatorial leadership within the contemporary art world.

Frazier comes from a distinguished lineage of artists and muses, continuing a tradition of creative authorship across generations.
